It has been widely reported in the national press that children in Britain are amongst the unhealthiest and unhappiest in the developing world. The Government is concerned about the rising number of children being bullied, children living in poverty, teenage obesity, as well as a rise in the number of children suffering from a mental health disorder.
In order to tackle this problem, the Government has launched the new Childhood and Families Ministerial Task Force which it says aims to identify policy proposals which will have a major impact on children and families. The Task Force is due to report its conclusions at the end of the year.
As well as David Cameron and Nick Clegg, the Task Force will include Iain Duncan Smith, the Work and Pensions Secretary, Sarah Teather , the Children’s Minister and David Willetts, the Universities Minister.
